Moe Berg

Biography

A short bio from the Helmar-R319 card back: 1935 saw Moe moving from Cleveland to catching duties in Boston with the Red Sox. While he did a good job at the bat, jumping his batting average almost 30 points to .286, he still found himself backing up All-Star teammate Rick Ferrell, who batted .301. Moe’s favorite game of last year was in front of a home crowd on July 24. While catching a complete game victory over Cleveland, Moe pounded in all 3 Boston runs with a homer. The final score was 3-1 and his heroics that afternoon raised his season average at the time to .356.
