Sievers, Roy

Biography

From the "This Great Game" card back: Being a great slugger for the Browns is sort of like being a great comedian in a Marilyn Monroe movie: who really notices you’re funny? That’s the curse for Big Roy Sievers, who pounded 16 homers and batted .306 for the Browns in 1949. For his lumber-swinging efforts, the man teammates call “Squirrel,” was named the Rookie of the Year in the AL.
