Frank Robinson (HOF)

Biography

A short bio from the Helmar “This Great Game” card back: Played high school basketball with Bill Russell, where Robby was the high scorer. Also played high school baseball with Vada Pinson and Curt Flood, fellow National League fly chasers. Robinson jumped all the way from Class-A ball to the big leagues and tied a major league mark with 38 homers as a rookie. The tall, lean righthanded hitter stakes his claim to the inside part of the plate, standing close to the dish in his battle with National League pitchers. As a result, he normally leads the league in being hit by pitches.
