Brooks ROBINSON (HOF)

Biography

A short bio from the Helmar “This Great Game” card back: Watch Brooks Robinson play third base long enough and you’re bound to shake your head in disbelief. Many of the dazzling plays he pulls off at the hot corner seem to be optical illusions. Maybe it’s a case of imitation: Brooks grew up in Arkansas idolizing the great third baseman George Kell, another good old boy from that great state. Early in his career, Brooks fulfilled a dream by sharing a dugout with Kell, as teammates on the Orioles. Robinson is not content being just the best leatherman in the game at his position, he’s working his hands to the bone to improve his offensive game too. The sky’s the limit for “Mr. Oriole.”
