Biography

The short bio from the Helmar-R319 card back: Though a tad diminutive for an outfielder/first baseman “Ernie” is an important member the Gas House Gang. In 1929 Ernie hit .322 and slugged .460 in 113 games. In ’32 he hit .336 and slugged .456 in 101 games. Ernie has played in 4 World Series, winning in ’31 against Philadelphia, and in ’34 against Detroit. He shows off his World Series rings in his hometown of Los Angeles, where his brothers operate the Orsatti Talent Agency. Scuttlebutt is that, when he hangs up his spikes, Ernie will join his brothers in Hollywood. Ernie stands 5’7” and weighs 155 pounds.
