Biography

The short bio from the Helmar-R319 card back: Had a fiery August and September to lead the Dragons to the pennant and 1954 Japan Series title. Originally signed as a pitcher, he pitched a no-hitter before the Stars converted him to an outfielder. Back with the Dragons, the line drive hitter narrowly missed the triple crown in ’52, needing only a few more homers to capture the honor. Hit a home run off of Mel Parnell in 1951.
