Hutchinson, Fred

Biography

From the "This Great Game" card back: Though he missed four prime seasons while serving in the Navy during WWII, Fred has made up for lost time, averaging 15 wins from 1946 through 1950. “Hutch” utilizes pinpoint control and command of up to four pitches to confuse enemy batters. In no season has the Seattle native walked more than 66 batters, and though he allows his share of hits, Fred uses the double play ball to wiggle from trouble.
