A short bio from the Helmar-R319 card back: Longtime stalwart for the Senators, in 1928, “Goose” led the AL with a .379 average. He batted over .300 every year from 1922 to ’28. He led the league in triples with 18 in 1923, and 20 in 1925. He knocks plenty of doubles, triples, and homers every year. Goose has been part of 5 World Series, whacking 7 homers, knocking in 19 runs, and collecting 37 hits, winning the Series with the Senators in ’24 and the Tigers in ’35. New Jerseyite Goose bats left and throws right. He is 5’11” and weighs 185 pounds.
