He hit .306, and compiled an on-base average of .380, as well as committing just 10 errors at second base, good for a .988 fielding percentage. He and shortstop Luis Aparicio comprise a brick wall in the middle infield. Nellie has led the league in hits four times. He rarely misses a game, and rarely strikes out. He only stole 5 bases last year, and cracked only 2 homers. He bats left, throws right. He is 5’10,” 160 pounds. Some call him “Mighty Mite.”
