Red FABER (HOF)

Biography

A short bio from the Helmar-R319 card back: Urban began his career at age 20, in 1909. His first team was the Dubuque Dubs (two years), followed by the Wichita Jobbers/Pueblo Indians, Minneapolis Millers, and finally the Des Moines Boosters. With the Boosters over two years he won 21, then 20, games. It was time to graduate to the big leagues and Chicago in 1914. In 1915 he won 24 games and became a fixture in the starting rotation. In 1920 he again passed the twenty game mark, with 23 games won. The following two years he won 25 and 21, respectively. His victory total is more modest since then because he has been playing for poor teams. But he is there, working away and hoping for the best.
