Bill DICKEY

Biography

A short bio from the Helmar-R319 card back: A Yankee for every one of his major league seasons, “Bill” and roommate Lou Gehrig are the stalwart souls of the “Bronx Bombers.” Bill has batted over .300 ten out of eleven years, with a high of .362 in 1936. He hits for power and strikes out less than once per week. Bill is an excellent handler of the pitching staff, and excellent at throwing out runners. Never one to lead the league in any category, nevertheless he’s the kind of player every team covets. He has played in eight World Series, and his Yanks have won seven of them. He bats left and throws right. He is a solid 6’1” and 185 pounds.
