Earle COMBS

Biography

A short bio from the Helmar-R319 card back: Known to his fans as “the Kentucky Colonel,” Earle has a distinguished demeanor about him that teammates and fans admire. They also admire his abilities at the plate including last season’s 1932 batting average of .321. It was yet another wonderful season for Earle as the Yanks romped to another World Series Championship. Earle had a slow start last season but broke out on April 28 by going two for three with four runs batted in against the Athletics. The Yanks won that game 7 to 5 and soon after Earle went on a streak of twelve games where he made base at least once in each game.
