Rocky Bridges

Biography

From the "This Great Game" card back: During his brilliant minor league seasons as a young infielder it seemed like Rocky Bridges was playing three positions at once. His range in the field and throwing arm were big league quality when he was still a green-eared teenager. But Rocky had to work on his use of the bat in order to finally reach Smoky Alston’s team as a rookie with Brooklyn in 1951. That year he was given a shot to replace vet Billy Cox at third, but Bridges instead has settled into a utility role, which gives Alston choices.
