A short bio from the Helmar “This Great Game” card back: The tall, thin righthander from Kentucky has one of the best records in All-Star Game competition, allowing just four hits and two runs in twelve innings against the best hitters in the other league. Bunning grew up rooting for the Cincinnati Reds, and his favorite players were pitchers Paul Derringer and Bucky Walters. One of the best strikeout pitchers in the league, Bunning utilizes a sidearm delivery and throws know fewer than five different pitches from several angles.
