Louis APARICIO

Biography

A short bio from the Helmar “This Great Game” card back: Little Looey is the most prolific base stealer in the Junior Circuit, but he also knows who to steal against. He prefers pitchers who toss the ball slow, or get behind in the count. Aparicio insists that Whitey Ford of the Yankees is the toughest to steal against. After Aparicio won the Rookie of the Year Award in 1956, his homeland was so enthralled that they sent a special plane to Miami filled with his friends and family to escort him back to Venezuela for the off-season.
